just bought a limo off ebay

let the good times roll i say....

Lucky for you Lichfield will license it.

wouldnt give lichfield the money, i know of cheaper areas to do it in using mates base as op centre who are happy for me to do just that and would never see the vehicle.......................

To me that seems a strange way of doing things. Don't go chopping your nose off to spite your face. If your council will license then that is the way to go. As a second option, restricted PCV. But to use another operators license in another district would be down the list. What happens if the unthinkable happens and he goes bust, it could happen in this economic climate. What if the tax man or VAT man asks him about this vehicle and it's income. Don't think I am being funny with you, if you are seriously entering the limo world you need to speak to a few limo ops like Steve and myself. Well Steve may not be so keen with you being on his doorstep. We can actually help you find your way in the business.

Bring it on  Most of my business comes from existing or referalls 8)

in Dundee limos are plated like a white plate and have to be tested like taxis.recently the police carried out operation to catch phv working illegally they also caught limo drivers who were working without proper insurance the limo drivers were reported to the fiscals office and the private hire drivers were reported to council were they got a slap on the wrist. :?

If you buy stolen goods, you break the law.
Why is it ok to hire an illegal limo?

Who says it's ok?

If it isn't, maybe a few high profile prosecutions of punters will get people to check that their limo company are kosher?

What are the punters going to be charged with? Has there ever been a case of a punter being charged with using an unlicensed taxi/ph/limo?

Note the use of the word if

Now either it is ok or it isn't grandad, so which is it?

I am not sure what you are getting at. I have never said that it is ok to use any illegal car, Hack PH or limo. I hope that is clear. Now perhaps you can explain what the punters could be charged with?

I have no idea what they could be charged with, if anything.
As far as I am aware, nobody has been charged.
This gives the impression that it is ok to hire illegal transport.
To answer your original question, the various regulatory authorities are saying it is ok since they have not prosecuted anyone for doing so.
I am asking why is it apparently ok to buy an illegal service?

I think you would struggle to get a conviction as they didn't 'knowingly' buy an illegal service.

In the same way some people buy goods, being sold by a shop, that don't have the required EU safety marks. In that case only the shop would be prosecuted not the buyer.

Oh yes they have. There are a couple of instances mentioned on here. The most recent being Go Stretch from Bristol.

i think you will find the inference was no one has been prosecuted for BOOKING a "limo", not for the operating of one

Which of Go Stretch's customers have been charged?

Ah, I misunderstood. I doubt that punters can be charged with anything.
