I see they've removed the barriers at gatwick south so that all the meeters and greeters can crowd around the duty free exit and block it all up nice and chaotic and very difficult for people with signs to be seen

Why do the management of these airports think that is an improvement ?

I think they dont so much think about things like normal humans would do...they tend to randomly try things out first, view the mayhem caused, then make decisions based on proven failures. I guess the logic behind it is that each failure leads to a success..

Great aint it. but some meeters with boards are as bad. stood there last week and some dodo comes and stands in front of me, then pulls out some tatty bit of paper with scribble on it. hate to think what his motor was like.

Amazing what you see other drivers use when they meet and greet at airports.

I've also seen drivers use a scrappy piece of paper with their passenger's name written in biro, to those using mini LED scrolling signs, iPads or similar with the passenger's name/company logo displayed on it (and I wonder what will happen if they take too long coming out and the battery runs down :? )

I use an A4 white board bought on eBay for a few pounds, a reasonable investment to look smart and presentable if you do lots of airport work.

And then scribble the customers name on it with a black marker pen!

Beats me how heathrow charges £4.50 for over 30 mins and gatwick rip you off even if youre in there 31-35 mins-£5.20 please and park in mcdonalds next time and wait till the last minute!!! Not like its not a 5 minute walk at south terminal or the new car park at north terminal to reach the terminal.Poor service for lots of money,i know they do a 10min free at north now and up to 15mins at both terminals for a pound but for the professional driver this rarely happens.
