Hey guys n' gals; always come over to read the forum but never registered or posted anything! :-)

We're looking to expand our company and are looking into owner drivers; we know the obvious pros and cons, but what is the average pay etc? Such as 75/25 and how much per week/month fee for radio/dispatch system/circuit charge?

Look forward to your replies,

Stee.

so do you want DRIVERS (self employed), car OWNERS (to pay base rents) or wish to rent out your cars to applicants?

whats a typical base rent near you, are you top/middle or lower end of the work spectrum in your area?

We charge our owner drivers £90 per week and for that their car can be in the system 24/7 (with a different driver!!) and all the money that they take is obviously theirs. We also charge them 5% admin fee on all account work that they cover.

@wannabeeahack Car Owners.

I would say lower to middle work spectrum wise.

@westside1

Do you also get a percentage of the weeks work undertaken? Is that PDA/Radio?

Regards,

Just charge them a flat rate rent, don't take anything off their takings that way you won't keep drivers very long.

Round here they charge £60 a week for a PDA for that you'll get work and contract work 24/7.

Round here we've got no night clubs, no mainline train or bus station.

We don't take a precentage of their cash work, only 5% on account work. We operate with PDA's

I think the rate/rent they would be prepared to pay all depends on how much they are clearing at the end of the week.

Most weekly radio rents are in the £90-130 area, so if you are looking at 25% then the drivers would need to be getting around £500 worth of work from you a week.

However if they are working solely for you, then they are going to be looking to earn a bit more than that.

I suggest you ring around your local area, or get someone else to, and find out how much they charge drivers.

But in the grand scale of things I would be quite prepared to pay you a £1000 a week if you was giving £2000 worth of work. :wink:

Average £93 to £108 a week where i am.Two companies on commission on all jobs 18.5 per cent at one,20 per cent on the other.With the continuing high cost of fuel commission means even on a seven day week you are still working for the boss.

£80 - £102 per week for radio settle. All money taken including credit work is the drivers.
