just wondering out off all purpose built hackney vehicles which has the most strong partition security screen an Which has the weakest and how strong are they as I am now wondering on buying a new taxi and I want one with the strongest as I work nights an I get a lot of dangerous work meaning picking up passegers who are most likely not to pay the fare an cause trouble
As once a friend of mine picked up a few passegers who wouldn't pay so he drove them to the police station an on the way they managed to break his screen an robbed him before he could reach the station, imo I think in the tx, e7 an tw they should have bullet proof glass for partition

Install CCTV. I'm doing that at the moment.

I have no knowledge of what's available for a TX4.

However, in my current experience, Cab Direct's Screen on the E7 Conversion, seems sufficient to handle almost all attacks but there is a risk of someone putting an arm or hand through the Payment Hatch, as I found out. It's easier to punch/pull the windows out.

If you are on a metered run, insist on a Deposit, that exceeds the expected Fare before you start the journey. On a quoted journey ~ Insist on Payment before you start, or find another Cabbie.

If they won't pay up-front, they'd have probably tried to avoid paying anyway, so you've lost nothing.

I have it on good authority in a scots cab conversion an eight inch hole was single punched through by an "irate" customer.

If someones determined, a bit like breaking into your house, they'll succeed.

No screen is ever that good, but they do the job of detering 99% of would be attackers.

The simplest method, and it's worked for me for a long time, is not to pick up anyone who looks in the least bit dodgy.

ALL long trips are also paid in advance in my Cab.

I'm sure that he does "due Diligence" before hand but some passengers chat and think lets pull a fast one especially late at night when meters etc click up faster than normal and catch them out with higher fares than their booze filled bodies expected.

I agree-perfectly sensible questions which deserve respectful answers not sarcasm

He's right!!

If the punters are trouble and you pick them up, then you have invited trouble into your domain.

And whose fault is that.

And if you insist on inviting trouble, then at least get the money up front.
