Here's a little tip which may or may not work at some airports. Some allow a period of free parking where after getting a ticket if you leave the carpark within a certain period of time you have nothing to pay. If you exceed this limit, walk back to the entry gate and press the button to get a new ticket then use this to exit the carpark within its 'free' time. If there is no free time allowed get a new ticket anyway and then only pay the minimum charge.

The only drawbacks I can see are that some gates only issue a ticket if there is a vehicle present by sensors in the ground, even if you have to press a button to get the ticket. The other issue is if there are ANPR cameras at the entrances and exits and an original ticket is'nt used after a certain period of time. They might use the cameras to see when you actually entered and left and then issue a fine/full parking charge to the registered keeper.

Sometimes (at Heathrow), the ANPR is "out of sync" where on the ticket, a different car reg no is printed (usually the car that was front of me), nothing happens, only when you get to the exit there is a few seconds delay for the barrier to go up as the ANPR camera is confused with a different car reg no on the ticket, but it will still let you out.

Never had a fine/charge since. Besides what's the likelihood that you'll be taken to court by the parking company for the sake of a few pounds?
