Well, I might be new to the trade but after 2 months I have reached the conclusion that I would get more money on the dole.

The only days when you make any money at all are the weekends, but you still need to go out on weekdays and take your £60 for working an 8 hour shift.

Add in the problem that, round here, almost every daytime job is a flag drop, which is crap for fuel in a minibus, and it kinda makes you wonder why you bother getting up in the morning.

Modred:~ You're running a wee business.

You take your, Annual Income / Annual Hours, to work out how much your hourly rate is, not Monday or Saturday.

As this is the High Season, how do you think you will fare in February?

Been working all manor of calculations Eddie, and it works out that to make the same as JSA, I need to put in about 50 Hrs a week.

I keep hearing that things will get better but just getting a bit despondent about the whole idea.

Perhaps you need to find a regular contract/school run and not just rely on the rank/circuit work, if you can

Went for 9hours yesterday made 60 I also have a driver who goes at about 5-6pm gives me half that's about 200-250 that takes out my feul an weekly expences so what I make I get to keep but still thinking on keeping it or selling it
Day by day what my driver gives me is getting smaller and smaller as during the week after midnight there's no trade left just we have the train station and weekends people don't even bother with taxis they just walk it and most weekends there's not enough people out just a few so no trade aswell

Jack, I've watched this thread long enough to know that you have only one choice, and that's to get out. It's a no brainer. Take the money and run, and don't look back. :-|

I suppose that even if you have the slightest doubt about the trade, it is time to get out because if you have doubts then you will not be giving it 100%.

Jack. Take the money and run, other threads on here will tell you time is running out for plate values anyway. Take it while you still can.

Most trade rep's here in Manchester are taking the money, and renting the vehicle back.

Manchester plates are still selling for £60k. In Liverpool, a town very similar to Manchester, plates have fell from £60k to £26k in a matter of weeks.

As Skull says, its a no brainier.
