News has been leaked to Taxinews that there are plans to remove the taxi rank at the Lord Nelson Street entrance to Lime St. Station. The plans come as part of a regeneration programme to install a fountain and grassed area on the site of the rank. Cabbies are expected to fight these plans which have shocked the trade.

One Liverpool driver said, "This is a very busy rank and it is a crazy idea to do away with it." "All this is in the run up to European Capital of Culture, when there will be no taxis for the tourists."

My sources say that the council are seriously considering putting a PH pick up point there. :wink:
