The Sefton based firm I work on ran this idea last year. The idea was that new or returning drivers had to wear trousers along with a white shirt and tie. During the process, the customers' of these 'smart' drivers were contacted by the firm once dropped off and were asked what the driver was wearing (their way of checking up).
Ultimately this stopped and no longer applies, although you can put yourself down as a 'dress code' driver which will allegedly give you more work.

Since the new tie and further smarten up code was put into place I have certainly noticed an increase in tips.

On Tuesday of this week I did five jobs, with £29.60 in tips alone.

I only wish they had brought this tie and further smarten up code in a year or more ago!
