No I'm not having a pop at my friends in the smoke.

An internet version of Monopoly, using real-life black cabs, will be unveiled tomorrow. Instead of a board, players will use taxis moving through the streets of London in a bid to amass a property empire.

Monopoly Live utilises a fleet of black hacks equipped with GPS satellite tracking units. Players will be given a £15million pot to buy properties and they can rack up rental charges as the cabs ferry passengers around. Every time one passes through a player's property, rent will charged and collected.

According to Alex Bloor, of Hasbro, which owns the rights to Monopoly, it will still be possible to cheat, just like in the board game. But she warned that anyone looking to boost their virtual income faces an expensive time.

Alex said: 'You could cheat. People could improve their prospects by hailing cabs and telling them to visit their properties. 'But you would have to really want it, because the taxi fares would cost you an lot.'

The internet game has been set up to promote a limited edition of the board game, designed to mark its 70th anniversary. The latest version reflects the changing London scene. The two most expensive properties on the board are now Canary Wharf and the City, not Park Lane and Mayfair. The online game is free at www.monopolylive.co.uk

Nice to see the Fairway still makes it onto the game!

I note they don't tell you how much it costs to play?
