A League One club has just bought an international goalkeeper for a pound

We're not sure Colin Doyle is going to live this down, but the goalkeeper has been bought for £1 by League One club Bradford.
Apparently Doyle, who is a Republic of Ireland international, had a £1 release clause in his Blackpool contract which City *triggered* with what was effectively a gold-coin donation.

Almost certainly it means that Doyle, who has signed a two-year deal, is set for a long season getting ribbed by away fans about the fact he costs about the same as a loaf of bread.

Apparently Blackpool fans are gutted that they didn't realise the local branch of poundland were stocking international goalies

Blackpool are in the brown stuff at this moment in time. The Fans forum had a meeting with the owners last week or the week before, Oyston had to be escorted out from what I heard.
