Ok - I am not trying to trip you up as I think I know as to what (they) are thinking about when (they) say sandals. Having said that sandals come in many different forms/designs and I think that women's sandals would be pretty hard to refuse - how would they be classified as "unsuitable"? It seems like some nonsense to me whereby nobody has queried it, as I ask - why would they be unsuitable!?

It is a health and safety issue. if your toes aren't protected you could injure yourself on shopping trolleys etc and also you could get the sandal stuck under one of the pedals and your foot on the top thus possible causing a serious situation.

Pants, tee-shirt and maybe a lightweight jacket. If it's really cold I might put my knickers on
