Do many drivers out rent there car out to others?

I have heard the rate is about £180. I would prefers to rent a taxi until I get to know the trade better.

And do drivers only rent there taxis out during the day so they can drive at night?

Thanks

sitius dont tell me things are stable at the moment in the plate values.
if you think they are then thats fine thats youre opinion.
but for gods sake dont go encouraging someone to spend that sort of dough on something that never has had a value can never really be owned .
especially at the moment
just so you can back up youre argument

Whose encouraging or discouraging anyone to do anything :?

youre first quote was
Quote:
"under what conditions"
in reply to skulls post above,
given that you know very well the conditions in the trade at the moment,
i think you will agree that it is a natural assumption that you where going
to go down the lines of "everything is rosey in the trade" route.
however if i jumped the gun a little then you have my apoligies
can you tell us what in fact you did mean then ?

Well Ali I was not sure if there was some worsening in your conditions, but I take it from the reply that things are just the same.

No, they rent Cabs for day shift, nightshift, part time, whatever you decide on, the amount for the rental varies and is dependent on a number of factors, radio/streetcar etc.

Thanks Sirius.

How do I find out who's renting there cabs out. I was told to phone one of the big cab companies and ask them.

Do you think this is the best way to find out?

Just pop into their office, they have boards up with drives available/ wanted.

But until you have sat the test and done the modules there is no point contacting anyone as you will be unable to drive a Taxi until you have done so.

Do yourself a favour and get a medical before you go through all the modules. The Council are enforcing Group II medical standards. If your vision is impaired such as a lazy eye or anything like that , you could pay for all your modules and then fall at the last hurdle.

The reason I say this is because it has already happened to someone we know who tried to go from driving Ph to Taxis.

Don't just take for granted that you will pass your medical. It could be a very costly experience.
