Hi all, I was doing Hackney taxi in North Lanarkshire ( glasgow ) for a year, gave it up as money just not there as too much competition, marked flooded.
Loved driving the Hackney, looking to buy one to use as private car, looking for any advice, where to look ( other than eBay ) and where to find insurance etc as most insurers won't insure ex taxis.
All info much appreciated

Try London, there are perfectly good taxis having to come off due to the age limit, most are one owner.
most owners do advertise on ebay and other places.
most company's who will insure, just call and ask what's required.

The derby ones will be like the Blackpool ones held together with string and gaffer tape, that originally possibly came from London.
a 15 year old London one more than likely will have been looked after

The blackpool ones 90% of the time came from London,3 tests a year(every 4 months) cert of compliance.Anything 15 years or over comes under "exceptional condition" You know slightly more than nothing
