our taxi "friendly" council are holding a big festival in town today with lots of visitors expected but our taxi rank closed along with almost the entire town centre and absolutely no provision for taxis i managed to get one £3.30 fare earlier from the bus station but now it is chocker with tour buses and private cars

they didn't even bother writing to us and telling us about it and which roads were going to be closed :roll:

They must have put a RTO in place under the 1847 Town and Police Clauses Act.
It would have been attached to lamp posts etc. or other objects around the areas affected and a statutory notice should have been put on Council website possibly advertised in local rag.
If none of this happened they have acted illegally.

it was in the form of road signs advertising road closures but not specifics. i have had several earbashings off customers because areas we could access earlier are unavailable now and we couldn't get to them :sad:

Wazzock of a tester who was going to fail my pit because of barely noticeable smear marks on a rear window and a 50p sized hole in the DRIVERS mat :evil:

Wouldn't even let me sort it there and then, had to reverse all of 10ft off the ramp, quick polish of the window and chuck mat in bin then made me drive back on the ramp even though he watched me do the work ! :x :shock:

Oh, and advised me that one of the tyres was close to the limit - until I pulled out my tread depth gauge and showed him it had 7mm left !!(well it LOOKED like it was low to him), which was slightly more than one of the other tyres which he said was ok. Knobjockey.

It's the people that stand there and expect you to load it into the boot that need banning.
And then when you get to their house pick up the lightest bag and s l o w l y walk to the door, take ages to carry the one bag to the kitchen then slowly come to the front door and wait for you to carry five bags at a time to them !
Had one expected me to carry all his shopping up four flights of stairs to his flat !!

Update;
Heard of two other vehicles failed by him. One because his headlights didn't match - one was bright white the other had a yellowish tinge. Another because his (standard) headlights had a blueish tint.
Jobsworths right.

Had one today who lived down three flights of stairs. I'm suffering with two slipped discs at the moment and they had the swingers to ask me to carry them to the door?
