there is nothing wrong with PH its always good to chat to the passangers and find out if they need you for the return trip home or if u have picked them up from the airport ask them if they would like u to take them back later in the week.

i have 3 other mates who work with me and we take the work through the radio but we always try to generate our own work and if we are unable to cover a job we call each other and you will be amazed at the regular calls we get especial at wkends for out of town workImage. we are building up a nice we amount of regualar passangers who know b4 they go out how much it will cost to get home and they also know the driver.

its very cheep to get 500 buisness cards printed with you number on it and as Sussex says "You are not a charity"

Stinky Pete we've got his twin here :D

I'd never work HC the crap they have to put up with here is horrendous, at least with PH you have a little bit of comeback and as PH if you turn up for a job and you dont like the look of them you just drive past.

As for Airport work, it's underpaid so make an excuse why you cant do it  I've not done an airport job for 6 years now too much hassle

It's matess BTW

Yeah sorry forgot that HC can drive past or refuse a fare too

The never bit is quite right though, I've been offered a Hackney plate a few times and refused them, there is far too much trouble on the ranks where we are  Not long ago one of the HC lads had his back window smashed due to punters fighting on the rank, sorry not for me

If the only choice I had was to drive a Hackney round here I'd go find another job.

I suppose the airport thing depends where you are, the main airport here involves a round trip of about 100 miles, you have to go via the M6 (not nice) including having to go across the Thellwall viaduct (a nightmare at the best of times) and then on the M56 which is nearly as bad when it's busy. I must admit the set price has recently been increased to £42 one way and £80 return (used to be £35 and £65 respectively), which makes it slightly better financially but the thought of the motorway is still extremely offputting

Not everywhere in the country is the same so I might have a different opinion if I was somewhere else, but that's how I feel living and doing the job here.

My thoughts

after numerous years on ranks and coming across alsorts of scum over the years, have found things are changing, ok had a panel or two over the years kicked in, but in the end you get extra sense, this kicks in as you approach the rank, and even sat at a rank, fair enough if they don't look good drive by, but todays problems seem to come from young girls, I can't remember how many years ago I slung out a bloke, but can count quite a few girls that have be told to leave the cab recently

I don't care what the rules or law is when I'm sat at a rank, if they don't seem right they don't get in, rollocks [edited by admin], I work zero tollerance, I'm the boss, its my vehicle and its a privilage that you travel in it, if you don't like it clear off get another cab
