Our two are under the weather as well. The older one (8) has had a lump removed from his foot, it’s benign but the location means the skin is very thin and isn’t healing very well, he’s on a course of antibiotics and having to have the wound checked and a new dressing every three days. The younger one (7) has a bad urine infection and is also on antibiotics. In the past he’s had both hips replaced at a cost of £5,500 each! Thank heavens for pet insurance (petplan)

having 3 we couldnt afford 3 insurances which would have cost £8000+ over the last 10 years plus the excess per insurance meant in only 2 cases could we have claimed

I love the 3 dogs and 2 cats but im not sure id have put them through major surgery but now they are old (ish) it wouldntr be advisable, if my boy had been 5 not 13 he could have had a pacemaker costing £3500, but now the anaesthetic alone could kill him.

Instead of insurance we have a clear nil balance credit card and a savings account putting £30/month in

One thing that does boil my blood is the high cost of meds frpm vets, this lads 90 meds cost me £80 online (proper stuff) whereas the vets would have charged me £400!, our red and white girl is on meds, hers are 50% cheaper online

I think vets see pet insurance being easy money, bit like us and taxi insurance/repairs?

as vets do ...

...there is one round here who insists to every dog owner their dog needs an ECG to check their heart out and many fall for it but he loses customers as fast as he gains them

another month on....

vet said he seems not any worse, low heart rate but good heart pulse

now very choosy over food
probably due to his kidneys failing

You might lose your mate, but you will never lose the memories.

Until you get Alzheimer's that is. 8-[

You’ve done your best Wanna, but there just comes a time when you have to say goodbye, I just couldn’t do it with our last two, the wife had to be with them. (in the vets I mean!)
