I'm just glad the likes of India, China, Russia, and the USA have joined us in banning coal power stations.

Haven't they? #-o

Don't they still have blast furnaces at Scunthorpe? Aren't they changing to electric arc furnaces at Scunthorpe, Teeside and Port Talbot?

The government forced them to close the coke ovens at scunthorpe 2 years ago so they have to import chinese coke and this is problematic so they are desperately trying to get the government to give them a grant to convert either to DRI or electric arc but most likely steel making will cease and we will start importing semi finished steel from China for use in the rolling mills which is also a problem because Scunthorpe produces the best rail steel in the world which the french, germans,Italians etc rely on

Saw a comment recently somewhere that said in 2024 more coal will be burnt than any previous year.

But of course, those fumes will never reach the UK. #-o

If the UK went to war now with anyone we'd be well and truly forked, no steel, coal and very little heavy production nor it's related skilled workforce that could support a sustained war effort

I think we have enough kit to take anyone on at the moment because before things got very far everyone would just use there nukes and that would be the end of it.
