I wonder how many PHs would want to comply with the DDA and buy a WAV?
That would probably depend on on the price of the vehicle involved and as we already know a doblo can be bought for a fraction of the price of most wavs.

What is the position with disability discrimination and taxis in the rest of europe? Do they have to have a certain amount of WAVs anywhere else?

Seen some in Spain and Greece, but doubt it is mandatory anywhere else other than parts of the UK.

Not that I know of.

It is not yet compulsory anywhere in Europe, including the UK.

It is a local authority condition under current legislation that allows a local authority to determine what shall be licensed as a hackney carriage. No such legislation exists for private hire vehicles but if it did, I think we could safely assume that there would be a lot more P/H vehicles running around with WAV status.

Regards

In many districts you DONT have to comply with the DDA to be Hackney

There are nearly 100 licensed hackneys in my town I have the ONLY WAV

over 70 of the Hackneys are ex Peterborough PH which have moved across because petrerborough is restricted and we are completely deregulated with absolutley no restrictions on vehicles that can be plated hackney
