When you deal with simple folk, I find it best to stick to the simpler, better known rhymes.

I may progress him to Little Jack Horner next week.

Let's see how it does with this one.

Here's another one to keep your cell ticking over:

Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full
One for the master, one for the dame,
And one for the little boy who lives down the lane.

GBC, Being a former Shepherd of Ettrick, You would know all about the subject matter in you rhyme, and how to keep them under control.

They more often than not destroy themselves, so to speak (or spell)

Failing that, Mr T's shotgun could come in handy.

I wasn't aware that the GMB taxi, stroke private hire section, had a leader outside of London? I presume they may have one within London but what good is that to those persons outside of London?

The GMB outside of London has two heads, one resting on the shoulders of the private hire section and one balancing precariously on the heads of hackney carriage owners. In the short term the two will never be reconciled because their interests are completely different. If anyone has a solution, then answers on a postcard pleeeeze.

Regards

JD

JD,

Have to agree, not an easy thing to do unite the H/C & P/H trade. However, with 240 odd L/A's delimited, I do believe that these area's would be a good place to start for the GMB.

Regards
BB

I think this outfit might be a welcome addition to the GMB. http://www.greatermanchesterprivatehire ... ion.co.uk/

If the intention for the time being is to have two wings of the GMB namely hackney and private hire then you are going to have to establish a regional and National structure outside of London. I don't know how many regions would be required but I would have thought at least seven, consisting of Central, North, North East, North West, South, South East and South West.

Then you are going to have to consider the structure between Private hire and hackney for the purpose of subscriptions?

Obviously the National committee would probably consist of elected representatives but how you choose to do that is another matter? Do you let the membership choose from a list of applicants from each area or do you allow the National committee to consist of those persons who happen to have been elected as regional managers?

If the Manchester private association joined the Manchester GMB, which is 99% hackney carriage orientated then I doubt they would find any common ground? Having said that, if they did join the Manchester GMB then it is quite likely that because of their sheer numbers they could soon vote themselves into positions currently held by the Hackney carriage trade.

Lots of things to consider but if you want an organisation outside of London with teeth then you are going to have to come up with a blueprint that address the problems of the two sectors.

Regards

JD
