I would like to draw the forum members attention to a petition on the Prime Ministers website, which is attempting to get something done about CCTV parking fines. At the moment i believe cctv fines only affects London, but will go nationwide as of March 31 2008. Just think of all those Local Councils waiting to get thier hands on your hard earned cash. Let's not forget all the Traffic Wardens, who will also be able to issue tickets without actually putting them on the vehicle or handing them to the driver, just by taking a picture. It is probably a long shot, but the more signatures this petition gets, the more chance that we might get heard and get something done.

You will find this petition by searching for the Downing Street website, going to the petitions section and then searching for cctvfines (all one word). Or use the link below, provided by Matt.

If you work in this trade, there is no reason not to sign this. If parts of London are anything to go by, the way it is going, we will have to start asking passengers to jump through the open window of a slow moving car, rather than risk a fine for even thinking about actually stopping.

Good call. An even better one would have been to provide the link :)

Your petition reads:

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Recognise
licenced taxis as public transport and allow a full rebate in
fuel duty

All other forms of public transport receive a rebate in fuel
duty, and licenced taxis should be included as they are
available 24 hours a day, and are they only means of transport
in some remote area's. When the price of diesel goes up we
cannot suddenly charge more to compensate, unless our councils
agree to a rise in fares.

Hopefully this will appear under transport :D

Signed up BUT can we take it on ourselves to persuade at least 10 fellow cabbies each to sign up or even have some sort of unofficial contest to see who can drum up the most support for the petition

Yes Skippy they can...but it needs around 25 Trillion names on it before the goverment would even consider it...and then the danger is that the States ageing Spectrum Zx PC will lose your personal details and for good measure attach your online banking Details and passwords to the lost information as well.....Be easier just not waste your finger tips and ignore the online Petitions...cos they just dont listen!!!!!!!!
