i HAVE tested supermarket vs branded fuels, over 100,000 miles, in winter i get 3mpg more from branded and in summer i get 5mpg more (winter diesel has anti-waxing agents added), the other point is supermarket fuels (in fact basic EN590 diesel supplied with no additives BY shell/esso) makes my engine noisier.

my last 3 fills have shown 46mpg on Esso branded basic diesel which is good enough for winter diesel on an extra-urban cycle, the trip has been showing 54mpg

Fuel Saver works by families using gift cards bought in Morrisons to pay for purchases on the high street.

And if the high street store goes bust you are left with a gift card worth exactly nothing.

Our Local large town has Diesel prices ranging from (Asda)141.7 PPL though to (Shell)149.9 PPL and forecourts are within half mile radius of each other...it's like the prices are on a bungee rope.

Tesco all offered a further 5p off a litre after you bought X amount of shopping which would have brought it down to 136.9 PPL

We have just received our new ESSO fuel cards. The price is guaranteed to be 3 pence below the national fuel price for 12 months. The price given today is 138.99 per ltr of diesel. The price at the pump at our ESSO forecourt today is 146.9 per litre. That means a saving of around £50 per week to us.

What do you mean "no saving"? 138.99 on the card and you are paying 143.9. That is still 5 pence per litre.

It's an ESSO card. We have 2 ESSO forecourts in town. We looked into haveing our own bulk tank but decided against it. Our unit is 4 miles from town so drivers would have to drive 8 miles just to fill up. The best price we were quoted was around 10 pence a litre less than the pump price but the tank was going to cost close to £1500 to buy and install. Then there is the problem of fuel theft.

I drove my 7.5tonner parts van into a haulage firm/customer in Aston one day and the workshop manager asked if I could get a diesel pump.....i was a bit confused, a)they ran DAF's and i wasnt in truck parts and b)they dealt with DAF dealerships

NO, he wanted a pump, like on a garage forecourt?

They had a huge diesel tank on site with a computerised meter pump for the trucks to fill up at, they had had a delivery (5000 ltrs) and on the sunday he had gone in to weld a DIY job for home and thought something was missing..... thieves had bolt cropped a live cable and robbed the computer/pump and they couldnt draw fuel for the trucks

later that day.........................as I drove into Nuneaton I espied some lads renovating a garage forecourt...a deal was done for a pump, they lifted into my truck, i was to return later with £50 for them, I delivered the £150 pump to my customer and forgot to pay the guys at te garage (as you do)
