I became more aware of that when, on arriving at Eastbourne station today, I found that the first taxi on the rank was of the 'black cab' variety.
Having a severe walking disability and using two sticks on which I heavily depend I am unable to get in that style of vehicle.
If the cab driver knew what he was doing, this passenger would have probably got in & out of the black cab reasonably easily.
I picked up my sister-in-law yesterday from Birmingham Airport; she was returning from Krakow, has broken her little metatarsil, in plaster up to her knee & was wheeled out by an airport worker in a wheelchair.
She turned round next to the tip-up seat, I pushed the tip-up seat down, she went in bum first onto the tip-up seat, got her legs into the cab & then transferred onto the back seat.
Simples.
Getting into black cabs is not that bad, but my guess is the driver never moved to assist the passenger.
He must have been London trained.
