If Alexander Taylor really is a student, writing an essay on the history of transport at York university, I wonder what the poor bugger will make of the quality answers that we have provided?

However it is read...I guess we have provided an amazing incite into the world of taxi driving. Apparently, a few should be making more money than they know what to do with...and the rest are so struck by poverty that they've clearly gone loopy.

As an airport private hire driver based at Heathrow, I average just over 200 miles a day, so about 60,000 miles a year.

The car is seven years old, has 210,000 miles on it (didn't buy it new, obviously), will keep it running until it becomes uneconomical to repair - possibly another 210,000 miles?!
