Go on Skippy, tell us all how the guy will own the license plate if he buys the taxi.

What law allows this?

This should be worth it's weight in gold.

We're all ea.... I mean eyes.

He didn't say that he would OWN the plate. He said that if he bought the car the plate was his. Not quite the same thing. Maybe he should have said the plate was his to use because we all know that the plate is owned by the council.

If he buys the cab the plate will have to go with it as its registered to that cab so he will technology be the plate owner
As you cannot legally sell a plate unless its attached to a vehicle, what the cab owner is attempting is illegal
As described if he buys the cab and as the plates are restricted, the owner could just pull the plug and he could be left with a cab he cannot use.
To put it in layman's terms would you buy a new cab and it only came with 3 wheels and you had to rent the 4 rth just to work????

Wasn't there a case on here recently where the hirers of plates applied for the licences in their own names, against the wishes of the plate holders?
Might have been in York??

Indeed it was York, and some plate owners realised too late that they don't actually own anything.
