Donations to the fund are not usually newsworthy, most are anon, the trustees are pretty well known faces, and if the story about them approaching Griffin is true, then I would imagine a lot of confidence will be lost in them.

I put £20 in the pot through Knowledge Point back in January, I wouldn't expect to be credited with that, it's just a donation like any other charity, I'm sure the same applies to the major Taxi Radio Circuits, and trade associations.
I think the Cockney Scouser has a lot of dealings with this particular charity, perhap's he can shed some light on exactly what happened.

The cheque (£500 from a man who has tens of millions) was solely designed to cause division. There are thousands of charities out there that will bite his hand off for money, he chose our one with the sole intent of causing a stink, he's good at that.

Well in that case he has succeeded, and the bone head leadership of the black cab trade has failed. :?

That's the problem Mr Sussex, you don't see half of it from your town by the sea.

But what I do see is the editor of 'taxi' magazine abusing his position to criticise other cabbies for doing what they viewed as their best.

Now some say it was a mistake, and I disagree, but slagging off cab drivers who give up plenty of their time for a very good cause is akin to previous actions of the mush who donated.

It appears the editor is very brave attacking his own, but hasn't got the balls to front up Mr Griffin.

Oh he has, and we're talking about the decision of about three cab drivers out of 26'000.

They (The trustee's) reversed their decision long before TAXI went to press, because, funnily enough, the rest of the charity members went bollo when they found out.

If John Griffen wants to give to charity, then he's free to do so to any of the thousands of good causes out there, but he chooses a London Taxi charity?

I suppose there is a point here......how did the donation come to light?

Most people donate to charity and say nothing.....it was either Mr Griffin or someone on the charity that made the publicity.......I wonder who?

I see there is comment on this situation from two London cabbies in TaxiTalk.

http://www.ntcmltd.co.uk/pdfs/taxitalk% ... 202011.pdf page 30 and 32.

Apparently it's not just me that thinks the editor of Taxi got carried away.

Now I don't particularly like the fella, and he came across as a tit at the Transport Select Committee, but reading the latest edition of the LTDA's 'Taxi' magazine (page 2), I see that the charity that does brilliant work taking kids on an outing has refused John Griffin's cheque for £500.

http://www.taxinewspaper.co.uk/downloads/Taxi_247.pdf

The bloke writing the article is coming across as a tw** of the highest order, and turning down money from someone who works in a different part of the trade, for the sole reason that he works in a different side of the trade, is quite shameful.

If he has that opinion then best he writes his own f***ing cheque for £500 to replace Griffin's. [-(

He agreed exactly that to replace the £500 as Add Lee offered more in a single donation than every radio circuit, dealer and garage combined. He also agreed to keep this quiet but of course he as you know never did or replace the £500. This money was for the children not the charity. Problem is that this person has a grudge against David MILLWARD and myself so it became personnal as not one other trade publication was even bothered about the £500 from Add Lee. This person even dictated to others saying Millward and his whole magazine is to controversial! I am awaiting to see if someone else writes about it though...

Also some committee members but one in particular went around telling all
the cafe taxi places exactly what happened in committee meetings etc.

Indeed, three years on the KOL! I feel sorry for the hard-working London cab driver. Them old shysters down at Woodfield Road there are no example to the honest London cabbie. These [edited by admin] are responsible for ' the state of the trade' it's in today along with the naive fools that aid and abet them. Just look at the in-fighting, especially with Crow's lot? John Griffin and that other feller, oh yea Steve Wright (not in the afternoon) are laughing their cotton socks off at these ailing idiots, the London private hire are winning all the account work that the 'black cabs' will never get back. They all scream and shout about the bleedin' minicabs and yet those on the likes of dac and comical cabs are working alongside them! YOU JUST COULDN'T MAKE IT UP... not my favourite phrase by the way guys! And this £500 debacle, well enough said wouldn't you agree?
