That must be because you live in a one horse town that has no Tesco Megastore in the area then, you just made me think of a not funny funny one, my mate walked into a corner shop and the guy was clipping his toe nails on the counter, needless to say that was a sale lost. #-o

You haven't got a Tesco megastore either you have a Tesco Extra store as does Edders  Fyi Tesco employ very few full time staff, are always short of staff for the tills at busy periods and most of their staff will be part supported by tax credits.

Btw if you put me over your knee I will bite your ankles

I would suggest it's because the councils are bullies and taxi trade is weak

so why is the Taxi trade weak ?? Its not in London and PH are gathering strength around the country.

And why allow councils to push you around why not have representation on them surely Hack PH Drivers have the ability to be councillors?

A taxi driver would have to declare an interest and not take part in any taxi related discussions or votes.

Simple the trade have no power over councils and never will even if 100% of drivers were members of a trade association the only people with real power are those who can afford to finance the political machine like Mr Griffen

Edders your analysis of local trade associations is correct but of course that does not apply to Unions, who directly finance politicians and thereby give immediate access to the council if you were a union member and a member of the Labour party you could be nominated and stand for the council, now of course many dont support labour currently and thats hardly surprising, but many do and they could easily find themselves on the council and being pro-active for their industry.

The question is why do they not do it ?

Is it that they believe the Legal route will be more effective?

Or has this political route not been recognised?

Or is it they just cannot be botherd and would rather watch Corrie crapenders or some such mind bending s++te?

And there was me thinking.... that unions.... were simply a business... profit-and-loss.... providing a voice for its members at a price..... now you can have three different areas where the union's members want different things..... and then the union's representatives will argue against themselves..... because they are paid to do so...... and don't say it doesn't happen...... I've seen it too many times in the past..... :D

Your right MrT but of course were now getting down the nitty gritty PH and Hack need to agree demarcation and respect it, the current situation where Drivers both PH and Hack continuously battle each other is the root cause of the pathetic earnings of so many in the industry.

Why is it not possible for the good of all to co-operate in that interest, if demarcation could be agreed and respected everyones earnings would increase I think!
