I've got one Brummie and you sum it up brilliantly, im not technically minded but what a drive, i got to open her up on saturday, Edinburgh-Dunbar, Later i filled up at a BP garage on 97.5 miles, £20.50 thats a big wow :D

I've just done my first 1k and hey things can only get better :D

Have you had it fully loaded yet with passengers and luggage and if so how many passengers and suitcases and did the performance deteriorate appreciably?

Lots of 6 seater jobs and some have been big laddies etc, luggage space is good plus more luggage space in front, performance is great even with sizable load, Edinburgh is hilly but wow the cab cruises up the mound/market street etc :D

Delighted overall and highly recommend

Not on mine they don't, must be the way you drive, or wheel alignment isn't set properly. I set mine myself, even Allied can't do it right. I got 25.000 miles out of my last set of fronts. Got Michelins on the back and they last for yonks. :P

I have the Renault Trafic Voyager NX8 Hackney Vehicle semi-auto. I've had it since May 2010 from new, just coming up to 64k miles and I'm still on my first set of tyres with 4-5mm of tread still on them.

But then I did specify Goodyear Cargo C tyres at no extra cost when I ordered the vehicle.

The whole idea of having commercial tyres is to get the mileage out of them and if you are putting standard car tyres on the E7, that is why you are only getting 25K miles out of them, let alone the illegality of putting car tyres on a commercial vehicle.

Where do you get this that they're car tyres and they're illegal? They are the tyres specified for the cab and fitted from new. If you're getting that kind of mileage then they must be a really hard compound, no thanks I'm afraid. I've experienced that kind before and they're [edited by admin] in the wet. I'm sure I remember one of our guys fitted commercial van type tyres to his cab a few years back and was promptly told to get them off by our test centre.

The point I was making is that the E7 requires commercial grade tyres.

Are they commercial tyres?

I'm pretty sure they are.

Re the tyres with 64k on them and still 4-5mm left, my mate wanted to know the make and type so as to know not to stock them. He says you're talking bollocks as a new tyre comes with 8mm tread on them which means you're gonna get 100k out of yours. You might just get your 64k out of them if they were on the back. No tyre manufacturer would want to make a tyre that lasted 100k as they wouldnae sell very many - fact. Commercial type tyres are 8 ply rating which just means they have a bit stronger sidewall to take higher loads, nothing to do with higher mileage.
He advises you get in touch with Goodyear and let them know the mileage you're getting from them, he doesn't reckon they'll believe you either but you never know they might give you a new set foc

Getting back to the main thread, I was really impressed by the new auto, power delivery was linear and gear changes were very smooth.
The cab had been parked up with the engine running and air-con on for at least 20 mins before I took it for a spin around Chester, When I checked the trip comp it was showing 28mpg which I thought was very reasonable considering the circumstances.
I'm not due to change my current E7 for another 20months (when it's paid for !) by which time I'm hoping someone in Chester will have bought one and can report back on it. (go on Chester j.d., you're due a change !)
