Even if there were empty seats (which there wont be), you wouldn't see it anyway.

Only lots of snazzy lights. :D

A lot of people have done well out of it, but it's (is that right Dusty?) typical of the whinging do f*** all negative attitude of too many folks in this country.

Most of the money has come from the lottery, if folks don't like that then don't do it. A lot has come from Londoners, if they don't like it they can move or vote for a Mayor that offered to not put the money forward.

The venues are spectacular, it has transformed the scummiest of scummy areas in this country, and I say well done for that.

So people if you don't like the Olympics then don't watch it, and if you have the hump over the amount of money that has come from tax-payers then vote for a party that opposed it.

Its the "Its fantastic for all the country" comments that are rubbing folk up the wrong way when clearly it isnt, in a recession like we are having it should have been put on hold, and god knows how many attending wont go back home....

on TDO there is a thread about disatrous growth reports then £9Billion gets spent on this, are we talking about the same country?

It depends who did the spending and you have to think of the revenue it brings in.

Cant see it bringing in as much as it's cost us....once the shows over its over, there no future mileage in except for that of the IOC gravy-trainers who'll go off sponging to Rio de Janiero.

It is fantastic for all the country, but just more fantastic for the South East.

Cynical folks are desperate to do a downer on this that and the other, and all I say to them is go f*** themselves.

I've only seen three quarters of the opening ceremony, and it blew me away.

I know I have a vested interest in the show, but it was simply stunning and a couple of moments will blow you away.

£ XX billions of pounds spent on this waste of time, what happened the amateur ethos that used to drive the Olympics? Now a days even the most useless olympian seems to think they are some sort of Demi-God. They do nothing unless theres a serious amount of money in it for them, they won't tolerate anything but the best by way of accomodation or transport.

Worse still is that the Mega Sponsors have taken over these games for their own corporate greed, It's no more than a giant advertizing exercise where they can show their products to the world, they Crush without consideration those that have the temerity to use the Olympic Rings logo in a shop display unless they pay for the privelige first.

Amatuers have become Professionals, any Camaraderie, sense of fairplay or sportsmanship between competitors has long since vanished, they even resort to cheating in order to win even before the Games have started.

In these Austere times I can see nothing but a massive haemorrhaging of Tax payers money just to appease a few bright eyed and bushy tailed Olympic single theme obsessives.

I really don't care im I am cast as a Cynical downer, but I'm totally hacked off with the Costs Involved and also of the UK's medias misguided belief that every man Jack of us is in the least bit Interested in this Giant Olympic Ego trip.

Roll on the Closing ceremony, then let us take stock of how much each little Medal has cost the Tax payer, It Certainly won't cost the Games sponsors themselves who'll undoubtedly profit from the games, but It will fall to Joe Bloggs the Tax Payer to pick up the final tab.

Moaning about tax payers money yet also moaning about corporate partners !!!!

Without the latter the former is considerably more.

As for the rest of your comments, well I've outlined my view of the doom-mongers in previous posts.

As for the rest of us that enjoy life, sit back turn the telly up and enjoy.

Have you considered what the effect has been on charities and voluntary organisations, with so much lottery cash diverted to this one event?
It isn't extra funds. It has come directly from the pockets of other worthy causes which have been starved of lottery funds for the last few years.

Now You in the South East might be feeling blown away. Many of us in the rest of this supposedly equal union are feeling well shafted.

You can have your Yookay Olympics and shove em where the sun don't shine.

I'm not a lover of the olympics and to be quite honest I'm fed up of hearing about them and it hasn't started yet but I will look forward to a couple of the events. I do believe it will bring in revenue and have a lasting effect on certain areas of London that probably needed a face lift. The Capital of Culture in Liverpool seen a lot of revenue brought in even after the event but lets not forget it's not all about money
