I would not expect anyone to work for nothing on my behalf, But I frequently work for a damned sight less per hour than a genuine Employee (not a percentage of take driver) on Minimum wage would get. I'd also never ever want to employ anyone to work for me as they as an employee would have more rights than me, more paid Holidays than me, more sick pay entitlement than me, certainly more maternity rights than me, Id be expected to pay into their pension pots, I'd have to have Employers liability Insurance to cover them and all that would add another 10 unpaid hours per week to my Initial (corrected by Gusmac) 20 non driving hours a week, which would bump it back up to 30 hours.

In my position It's cheaper to turn the little bit of surplus work I cant handle away or pass it on than it would be to accept it and employ someone to cover it.

Back to the topic though . .

I work the flyers, I may (today being a classic example) rank up in the feeder park for over 3 hours before being called to the terminal.

In that time I'll wander over to the local Marriot, use the gym, have a shower, and then eat in the canteen, before, hopefuly, getting down to the terminals to start work.

I don't even think about the 1/2/3/4/ . . hours in the feeder park as 'work'.

From the moment the meter goes on you are working regardless if it's in hired or not imo,

Simply because you aren't riding anyone about isn't reason to consider you aren't working, if anything it's harder work when sitting empty cos the mind is prep'd for action and when it doesn't happen you are wired up until it does, driving is the easy bit.

GBC provocation normally gets people debating FFS your a prime example That dope just opened a can of worms with his stupidity and then confirmed it by running away, typical unfortunately of so many in the industry he's just a servile moron BLOODKNOCK that andle about sums him up

As for your shenanigans at the feeder park defo a grey area for sure as to whether its working time in your scenario!

But in other instances outlined here defo working time especially on a RANK!!
