well lets see if any celebrities make the trek to North lincolnshire for this one !!!!

Residents in Lincolnshire are holding a protest walk against a company's plans to drill for oil in a field close to their homes.

Egdon Resources Ltd wants planning permission for an exploratory well at land at Biscathorpe, near Louth.

The firm said it was "always open and transparent" with planned operations and stated that "no fracking would take place" in the area.

Lincolnshire County Council is due to consider the application next month.

Some folk just seem to want to protest against anything. Years ago there were test drilling rigs set up all around here, for both oil and coal. I don't remember anyone protesting against them. I don't recall any protests against the Asfordby super pit. Most people were looking forward to the job opportunities that it would bring.

It didn't stop open for long did it? They sunk the shafts in the wrong place. When I went there when the mines were open we all said, "this pit will never go in a million years", there was to much water coming in.

apart for the potential for earthquakes and the day after tomorrow scenario, and everyone potentially being dead, there is a few plus points

The fact that it closed had absolutly nothing to do with any protest though. I do agree that the shafts were sunk in the wrong place though. With the size of the coalfield being what it was supposed to be, I would have thought that it may have been better to actually extend the Cotgrave pit towards here rather than build a new pit.

They stated that no fraking would take place in the area. They would be drilling to see if there was any oil there just like in Long Clawson 4 miles from me.

They were told but they didn't listen.

And you believe that after all the risks attributed to getting oil from the north sea, with massive waves and helicopter crashes, some 50 years later they suddenly decide to investigate for oil near a daft little village in the South East?

Incidentally the earthquakes near Blackpool were just god farting so there's no real issue.

more seriously, I would agree with it, if it were proved safe.......sadly the jury is still out

Hang on a minute, are you still on about the fraking site in Sussex? I am refering to the test drilling near Louth.
