There's no obligation to pay enhanced rates on bank holidays, Sundays, or any other day unless it's in the contract of employment.

It's only in recent year that paid holiday have become statutory. When BR got rid of me in 1988 for an alleged misdemeanour, I was due 3 weeks holiday. They refused to pay; there was nothing in the contract that said I was entitled to any leave. It was only with the advent of EU employment regulation here that a/l became a statutory entitlement.

I am not sure what you are saying here! :?

well, on 1/3rd the bag "self employed" the take is bigger on (say) new years eve, by a factor of at least 33.33% but on the NMW they just get the same flat rate new years eve as on a normal day, if they are on a zero hour contract they may also be told to stay at home, before if not earning they could leave easier
