We have a special tool for cleaning up such problems. Once you have got the worst out this machine uses a chemical and an air vortex and it cleans it up in seconds. You then turn the chemical off and just use the air vortex to dry the fabric. It is brilliant on carpets as well. We had an old interior mat that was in an awful state. We used it at home to kneel on whilst doing work on the cars. It had been outside in all weathers for over a year and this machine had it looking like new in a couple of minutes. We got the machine from Autosmart and it cost something like £120. You do need quite a big compressor to run it though, ours is 150 litre.

So another tip I found out for myself.

If someone wants to go to a street 6 miles away as an example.

And the booking is to the place. Then BACK to the original pickup point. But need to just pop in to get something.

Cant give you a house number. But only a street.

You securely deposit your mobile phone for the journey in my car otherwise you aint going anywhere.

They didn't leave the phone.

So didn't go home in my motor.

This happened three times last night.

After 2am EVERYONE becomes an ass hole. My shift now ends at 1am at the weekend.

No need for amyone to tell me I will struggle. Because I know I won't.

Do not take mobiles, cash cards, passports etc as security. 1) two out of the three could be stolen 2) There is nothing to stop them claiming on all three.......that they had been lost, and that you found them. If in doubt,as already mentioned - cash up front.

With regards to A.H's after 2.00am - the same rule applies if there is an A.H at 8.00pm! Unless you work in the Bronx, do not let a bewitching hour stop you earning.

But isn't is against rules to refuse a pre booked fare?

To be on the safe side, if you are going to refuse a hire do it on the grounds of health and safety. And that can mean your own personal safety, the customer's safety or the safety of your vehicle. Oh and there's no comeback as you are supposed to carry out a risk assessment for every hire.

It's the LAW: http://www.hse.gov.uk/legislation/hswa.htm

If you refuse a fare for any other reason you leave yourself open to reprimand, should the customer feel aggrieved enough to make a formal complaint. :-|

Your choice????????? :-|

Cheers all for your help.

You get your badge and chucked on the road.

I got no idea why parking wardens walk past my car now without asking me to move on.

Or what different rights i have compared to other road users apart from the bus lanes in the area.

Or the do's and don'ts. Other than obvious do not take unbooked punters.

As a taxi/Ph driver, you don't have any rights and next to no representation should you fall foul of your licensing conditions. If I were you I would invest in a CCTV for your cab purely for your own protection. Oh and make sure you use it!! :-|

Oh and incidentally, if you are ever interviewed (interrogated) by a licensing officer make sure you get a video recording of the "interview" even if you have to use a covert video camera to do it. Do not rely on council officials to take an accurate record of your reply to any accusation made against you by a member of the public. A lot can depend on who is making the complaint.

And once again, your choice??? :-|

Another thing you might want to consider when faced with an allegation by a member of the public, is that the only person's conduct under examination is your own? Yes, the person making the complaint may have behaved abysmally and he might even be lying through his teeth but you are the one being forced to speak the complaint and by doing so, you are acting as a witness against yourself. #-o

In short, the allegation may be completely false but if it is serious enough, they can suspend or revoke your licence without any basis in reason or fact for coming to their decision. One man's word against another is good enough. As they are only duty-bound to judge each case on its merits. #-o

So be warned westgatelad, if you drive a taxi/Ph you are a second class scumbag whether you want to believe it or not. Oh and don't expect your colleagues to come rushing to your assistance. You are very much on your own!! #-o
