We have had a driver join us from another company in town. The straw that broke the camels back for him was working all day on a Saturday and taking home £30.00.
Anyway, someone who is friends with the people who run this other company has told one of our drivers that we will be getting our cars damaged again. The same as happened last time one of their drivers came and worked with us. Looks like we could be spending the profits on repairs again.

Report it to the police.

or better still report them for not paying minimum wage (and yes I know the driver was technically self employed but was he on split purse ? that is technically employed)

They work the reporting thing the other way round. They encourage their drivers to claim benefits and when the driver wants to leave, they report the driver for claiming benefits whilst working.
They did this to one driver and he was done for it. However because they stated that they were paying him £3.00 per hour, they also got done for paying below the minimum wage. Something like a £5,000 fine if I remember right.

Surely your Council revoked their license for not being fit and proper persons?

Since when do you need to have a license to run a Hackney Carriage company?

The chap who is threatening the damage does not have a drivers badge due to him having not long being released from prison for growing and dealing in cannabis.

If that is the case all those involved with the running of the so called TAXI company can be found guilty by association and run the risk of having their plates and badges revoked.

Make them aware of this and inform your Council.

I am not sure whose name the cars are in but when It was mentioned to our enforcement officer on the previous occasion we were told that ownership of the vehicle does not matter. The vehicles could be owned by a mass murderer as long as they don't drive them.

same round here as long as the driver is insured and licensed ownership doesn't matter even if they are up to all sorts of tricks BUT put an unlicensed driver in the car and the owner can also get penalty points on their license

But the public register of hackney carriages that the council must have, should/could show the names of the proprietors and part proprietors and all any convictions that they may have.

Hackney owners merely have to say who they are on the vehicle license application there are NO checks on owners only drivers

Not here. The public register for vehicles only shows the reg number, plate number, date it is valid from and the date it expires.
