Christmas Day is probably one of the busiest of the year especially later on.
Not many drivers work so more for those that do, a lot of people visit relatives and like to have a drink so dont take the car.

However NYE is one of the worst, probably take less than I do on a normal Saturday night even with the higher tariff.
Every driver comes out thinking it will be busy,
Most punters go out early so they can get a seat in the social club so busy up till 8pm then nothing but dribs and drabs until the pubs close,

Worst of all punters think they'll struggle to get a cab so pre-book for on the hour or half past. Our pre-bookings go out ten minutes before the booked time so ;
Log on and join queue of cabs sitting around doing nothing, ten to the hour get a booking for 6pm, wait 8 minutes before setting off because you're just round the corner. Arrive at 6pm and wait another few minutes because punters are'nt ready, clear job at 6.10pm because they only went half a mile down the road anyway, then sit in queue of empty cabs again doing nothing until the next round of bookings for 6.30 go out at 6.20pm. So for at least 20 minutes each hour I'm sat with a job allocated that I can't pick up until the booking time.

Repeat until 9pm then all goes quiet until closing time, mad rush at 12.30am for half an hour and then you might as well finish. On a normal Sat I'd maybe do around 25 jobs, NYE maybe 15 :sad:

Interesting that down here is a madhouse and if you stick it out you could earn a bundle.

I avoid it but do very nicely New Year's Day.
