Lets make it clear I personally am not involved in this issue, if there is GMB input I know nothing of it, if the drivers want to involve me and are GMB members 07958275339 I suspect if there are GMB members involved they are members of a general branch.

Could you define the 'we', I trust you are meaning it in the royal sense?

£5K per year is about £92 per week, what is the equivalent cost of operating on PH circuits?

I would 'guesstimate' the cost will be in the region of £70 per week, which leaves £22 per week for the station permit.

It seems to me like sour grapes.

WE means, drivers /owners that are not allowed a permit as we are not in the circle of friends of the shareholders or we dare to speak out aloud to shareholders, or we are likely to break the rules, if you have crossed any shareholder, even going back donkey years ago, your on the blacklist

i do believe I am refused a permit because I gave some grief to the stn taxi clerk that I wanted to take away the GNER contract rules to read at home in my own time, I was given 10 minutes to look at the document, but not hold in my hands, with other taxi drivers talking and looking over my shoulders, the doc was opened up and was told this is the main part which gives most concern which was, you must wear a tie. thats all you need to know, sign here.
I asked again if I could take the doc away, they said no, your times up, so I told em to still it up their so and so

The restriction of stn permits boils down to one thing, to keep it in their own backyard as a good earner, also if dereg comes, stuff you lot on the Council ranks, we're doing ok

22 pounds per week for permit still equals £1056 per year for permit when the true cost of permit alone is around £500

The only way you get to be in the permit system is that you must have radio which totals to around 5 grand per year, thats if you pass the hurdles of being allowed in
The radio system has no radio work, I will say that again, its have no work or very little, its I think a condition of GNER to operate the franchise for so many to have radios

Sour Grapes, no
why shouldn't we all be on an equal footing, you have got to remember that that rank isn't just for the railway travellers, the public off the street use it as well, big style

If some of you care to come up here and watch what happens when a big train comes in lets say on a friday or Saturday night with all the drinking population gathering at the stn rank
what the Hacs in the station have done is cut their own throats by limiting the permits, The Hacks who have permits at the stn think and know that this is a captured market, whilst the people are waiting they go and clean up other taxi ranks hoping that the captured market at the stn is still there, but with the invention of the mobile phone the punters at the stn ring PH,
There are more newer vehicles on the railway ranks than on the Council ranks, you can see the divide, of course there are more earnings gained at the railway rank
look at it this way, if you was a stranger in town and you needed to get home to another city, where would you go?, head to the railway stn first to see if you can get a train, no train so get a taxi at the taxi rank in the stn

at the moment its us and them, its always been like this, you must understand here there is a pecking order for permits, in theory, yes in theory, but higher up the list the better you are thought of, the list goes like this
Stn taxi shareholders with permit/radio
Stn Taxi shareholders rental driver with permit
Stn taxi shareholder without permit
independant owner driver with permit
Independant owner rental driver with permit
independand owner without permit
independand owner rental driver without permit

if your at the top your guaranteed a permit

I tend to believe in free and open access, and perhaps wanted to see your response

regards

CC
