I like the name of the Association.

Just think, wouldn't it be nice if one could benefit all of us, instead of what we have at the moment, where several pretend they can. :?

Both been in the trade for years?

the problem with people who have been in the trade for years is they dont want change, dundee needs new representitives people with real visions ,
a lot of the new ops are young people who as far as im led to believe have not joined the dta, maybe its time for dta2....

Of course in all areas, new blood is needed, fresh ideas and enthusiasm.
Still need a few old codgers though,to give an overall view and some input.
Lot of the older operators, find that they do not have the time to participate, due to other comittments, but should still listen and learn from their experiences.
Also quite a number has let their membership lapse from the association, due to lack of consistency in the handling of recent events.
Still thin there should still be a cap on the taxi numbers, all vehicles WAVS,say 400,and the rest could revert to private hire,if they wish.
This would give all a decent living,as it will get tough,no matter what people say.
Probably a few of the older cabbys will not renew their plates this year, has been mentioned, six already, but I think it could reach 20-30.

Keep smiling,ELLGO.

Well no one has voted for me tranny Charlie.
I think I would be a good spokesman/woman.
Would keep all you guys on your toes and make sure you were all neat and tidy.
Dress sense and dresses optional,no swearing at meetings and the sandwiches, cut in four.
Soft drinks and fairy cakes.
So come on you men, take up the pen,
and vote for tranny charlie,
you know it,s right, ell put up a fight,
so vote for tranny charlie.

Lots of love,
From you ken me.

Oi !! I voted for you, but when I posted it, it changed what I wrote from Tranny Cabby to hairy cabby.

Our Dundee spokeman would just have to be transvestite Cabby (just to bring a bit of glamour into the proceedings), but we would have to make it a condition that he shaved his beard off first.

dundee council couldnt cap the taxis at 400 because the suvey number was higher, even trying to cap the number by 5 single lisences below the survey figure is deemed as unlawfull by the courts, the figure the survey throws up is the minimum vehicles required to meet public demand, only once this figure is met are councils allowed to cap numbers....

recomendations to councils regarding putting on a set number of cabs over a number of years do not have to be followed, these are estimates about how many taxi s the public will require based on past surveys, the actual survey figure is different,if the survey says you need 500 taxis to keep the waiting time down, and you only have 499 taxis, then the council would be acting unlawfully if it refused to issue another lisence,in the eyes of the law that one taxi would make a difference ,although we all know it would,t,the gossip about dundee being capped again is gaining momentum with unverified news that the chief constable has a meeting with the council on monday to object to any more being granted due to lack of rank space, this has pannicked people who were only thinking about applying for a taxi lisence into acctually handing over their money
and we will now see another surge of taxis appearing in a couple of months....
