I have spoken to a driver in the royal Oak who has one and I also have a neighbour who is a PHV driver with one. Both seem very happy with the Vitto.
I think the biggest set back of the Vitto Taxi is the price difference of £10,000 from the PHV version . Surely the rear wheel steering doesn't cost this much.
After seeing the new Metro, I think they should drop the electric engine, aint going to happen anyway, and concentrate on a good hybrid diesel engine with a more modern interior. In the states, virtually every state is insisting on a hybrid engine.

Its interseting all this 'alternative vehicle' stuff.

Stereotyping now that's as bad as discrimination, chuffa.

We don't need to stereotype with you, it's obvious to all you're a cretin who is'nt even too clever at covering the same spelling mistakes he makes under his various usernames.

Stupid man. [-X

My spies at KPM tell me that one potential problem with the Merc is ground clearance, especially over speed humps.
The rear wheel steering is low and with six on board, the RWS can scrap some humps.
It might have been this that caused the failure as reported by acabbie on Wed Oct 01, 2008.

KPM are doing a LTI by not commenting.

Probably, but the Fairway and TXs don't have this problem.
When the Merc was launched at Battersea Park, they didn't want drivers using Prince of Wales Drive...

It's only LTI vehicles that are designed and built to be taxis.
The rest are converted cars, vans and people carriers.
I can understand a converted van or people carrier having problems doing taxi work, but a purpose built and designed taxi having problems doing taxi work is why drivers complain.

How often do you hear a JCB driver moan about his JCB?

Probably loads.

I can't say I know any, however I know some Police Officers and they moan about their fleet, I know a guy in the RAF and he moans about their fleet and the roofer who came today and charged me a fortune was slagging off his van, whatever it was? . . . I'm sure the list would go on.

I just get on with it as some things in life will never change, so there's no point getting worked up over it.

Well that's a matter of opinion.

There are more than likely millions of cabs throughout this world, and I doubt many more than 40,000 are of the LTI variety.

That's my point!

LTI produce a designed and built taxi.
It is not a car or people carrier but a taxi.

Yet when drivers have a choice in the UK and around the world, most vote with their pockets and do not buy the custom taxi.

What other industry where users have a choice between a custom designed and built vehicle for the job and and converted one, choose the converted one?

TBH I think the rear wheel steer is going to cause problems, so will the sliding rear door.
