RAMBO ,SINCE WHEN HAS IT BEEN ILLEGAL FOR A CAB DRIVER TO USE SAT-NAV ?

According to my rules about 1847......we tend to work along the lines of shortest possible route around here.

I didn't say sat nav was illegal....I'm saying taking a passenger by a longer route is....which is what some sat nav's recommend.

Since when? I thought that it was the shortest practal route. This may not be the shortest but it is the most cost effective as pointed out by GBC when I asked about the route from Northumberland Avenue to Sussex Gardens. He told me that it was cheaper to go an extra half mile than wait at 2 sets of lights.

As far as I am aware, you cannot have a sat nav affixed to your screen as it's not permitted.
Try taking a cab up for plate with a sat nav in it, see what happens.
I may be wrong.

'....sat nav.....not permitted', from which I take it you mean some authorities won't allow it.

Or do you mean, as catagorically stated in your previous post, 'illegal?'

I wasn't querying your phraseology. It was Rambo's post I quoted.

I'm talking about london taxis with sat nav, like I said, I may be wrong.
Not permitted/illegal, same meat, different gravy!

TBH, the point i'm trying to get across is don't keep having a go at london PHV until your own house is in order.

I agree we have our faults; using satnav, smoking in our vehicles, bad use of indicators and sudden stops/u-turns if you believe the media (they never seem to point out it's because a punter asks us to stop suddenly or make the bleeding turn in the first place) but they hardly compare to blatant touting, sexual assaults and suddenly turning into a bus lane when i'm driving down the bloody thing at 60 mph!

Compared to the PH industry our house is well in order, thats many years of legitimate trading and licensing for you........

I agree with you.
Hopefully after as many years being licensed as taxi's, PH will come up to the same standard. but I doubt it, that's due to the nature of the drivers

Im Guessing if Identical twins looked in a Mirror one twin being a Taxi Driver and the other A PH driver that the Taxi driver Twins reflection would be sporting a halo whilst that of the PH Twin would be sporting Horns...yet both should look exactly the same...or least it'd look like that to the Taxi twin....
