I'll second the 'Eurpoe Up Your A*se Party'.

On second thoughts is that a political party or a bunch of perverts having a party?

Quote:
Tony Blair's reasons for a referendum

In his Commons address, Blair stated that what he regards as myths about the European Union, were so prevalent that "it is right to confront this campaign [of myth-making] head-on". Blair made no more specific reference to a referendum other than that in his speech – indeed observers were keen to point out that Blair avoided using the words such as "referendum" and "plebiscite" at all. The explicit announcement was made in a White Paper published simultaneously by Jack Straw, the Foreign Secretary.

In the same speech, Blair made clear that he and his Government would be urging people to make a "Yes, accept the constitution" vote, "provided the treaty embodies the essential British positions". Since the agreement of the final draft, Blair has announced that it does indeed embody these positions in his opinion, since he claims that it protects the national veto on sensitive issues such as tax, social policy, defence and foreign policy.

Referendums are a tool for politicians to convince us that thet are acting on our opinion but they are usually nowt but a sham thats why they had to have a second one in Ireland cos they got the wrong result first time !

We had one on a contentious local issue 3 years ago the question was deliberately worded in an awkward way so that you had to vote "yes" to say no but people didn't fall for that and the result went against the politicians. The queues at all the polling stations went right round the block nobody can ever remember people queueing to vote at any election in such numbers but the result was declared invalid because apparently the question was worded confusingly and the voters didn't vote correctly and the turnout was apparently so low that the result was invalid

I wonder who contributes the most to the EU budget of 800 BILLION euros a year, 30% of which is spent on "Structural Actions"....?

and looking at the membership, and the list off applicant countries, it will soon go the same way as the Eurovison song contest, and we know what the voting was like on that DONT WE

We will be sold down the river now, nothing new there but El Presidenti Blair will be filling his pockets (and those of his mates) while the EU takes us over.
