Well that's the TX2 gone, it was a good taxi, no great problems, no huge maintenance outlay . . . then I picked up the Mercedes tank.

It's different, I'll say that much!

Lovely drive, smooth, quiet, but very unusual to work as a Taxi.

I'm sure I'll get used to it, but the doors are going to drive me mad, people keep trying to force them open, and close them, with me shouting to leave them alone as they're electric. I'll get some external signage to tell them.

The rear wheel steer is a bit weird, Heath Robinson inspired, but I need to use it to get it around the back of GBC mansion of all places, it's a tad wide to turn through the gate without it.

The intercom is crap, lots of feedback, so that has to be fixed. The fuel filler flap sits down low behind the nearside luggage door, it knocks at speed, so that will have to be sorted as well.

Time will tell, but like the TX2 I'll do a mini 'blog' to keep everyone informed.

best change my avatar.

I also think it turns itself off once you are over a certain speed.

But you will have a smile when six punters walk past all the TXs in front of you on the rank and get in your cab. :D

Its [edited by admin].

The rear wheel steer stuck on after a turn, the steering warning buzzer activated for no reason whilst driving along, the n/s door got stuck when someone tried to close manually, and the roof pod rattles when you go over 50mph.

And it's done a grand total of 400 miles.

What a pile of crap. £38K's worth of crap.

I wish I'd stuck with the TX4, I'd be £5k better off for starters.

I've got three years of this now.

Didn't you go for a few test drives before you decided and did you not ask other drivers of the same type of vehicle for their opinion? Perhaps it is as Sussex says just teething problems, nothing is perfect I'm sure it can all be sorted out :D

I fully expected a few teething problems, but for every part of the conversion to fail in some way or another in the first 3 days doesn't exactly fill me with confidence for the next three years!

The Vito bit will be fine, it's Mercedes. The conversion part, as it seems is the norm on any conversion, is poor.

Wonder how much they'd offer me if I took it back?
