I have asked some of those drivers to comment on their impressions - however at this moment some of them do not wish to do this.
They are already involved with different ways of getting work - circuits etc so this may be part of the concern (my assumption)
If you use twitter then you can find us @taxizapp and check out those followed and following - there are a number of drivers from all different areas - not all are currently signed up for TaxiZapp but quite a few are.
I greatly respect and admire @tweetalondoncab and the work they have done - They introduced a system a a time when people were wary of the new technology on phones called "twitter". I agree with you that it is "free"- but there are alot of people in the background willing to put hard work into this to benefit others - so there is a "cost" although not reflected in monetary terms - they could be using this time in other ways but are giving it freely to TLC.
Collectives are a great way for people to organise themselves but often difficulties come after they are going a few years and those doing the work become tired, need to bring others in, or to expand they need more people prepared to take on some of the workload - often others are prepared to benefit but are not prepared to take up the workload.
PLEASE NOTE - I am not in any way suggesting that this is the position of TLC - it is a general comment on collectives
I just want to point out that a business must make charges - in an effort to cover costs and expand - generally there is a lot of goodwill at the beginning - in my own case I have many help me for no monetary payment - but long term and if growth is intended this cannot be sustained .. everyone has bills to pay in life.
If you on twitter regularly then ask around to see if you can find anyone willing to chat about the app - better still download both apps and give it a try - costs you nothing to do so.....
