Hello Joe, Very sorry to hear about your taxi problems. I bought a taxi from LTE once and it wasn't a bad cab but they did cover holes with filler. That cab cost £1700 in 2001. I did sell it privately to a collector in Insbruck, Austria for about £1100 a year later when my student slush fund ran out! He was happy with it but he did get it for a bit less than what I paid. I personally wouldn't buy anything from LTE again; yours is not the only horror story I've read about. I now have a nice '97 Fairway which I bought from a guy off eBay; one owner, used part time. It's in the process of being restored by a classic car body shop - actually cutting out the rust and replacing with new metal. Does yours have a Nissan engine? I thought cars had to be over 25 years old before they can be exported to USA? If the exhaust is fine and the fumes are indeed coming from the crankcase breather, maybe the engine could do with a rebore/overhaul. If you need any other parts, londontaxiparts.com are a good source of cheap warrented parts. I buy all my consumables from them. Any engine parts can probably be got from any motor factor out where you are as the engine is a standard Nissan engine as used in the Terrano. Most of the actual professional cabbies on here must think we're mad to voluntarily drive these old cars around but I really like them... Good luck with your cab.
