Moaning about tax payers money yet also moaning about corporate partners !!!!

Without the latter the former is considerably more.

As for the rest of your comments, well I've outlined my view of the doom-mongers in previous posts.

As for the rest of us that enjoy life, sit back turn the telly up and enjoy.

Why does me or others not liking the Olympishlte games make us doom-mongers...that rather implies that if people don't like such guff then the world as they know it will end tomorrow.

Its bugger all to with doom and all to do with a complete waste of tax payers money in tough times.

PS: To make matters worse I see that first of the Olympic competitors has made their Asylum bid to stay here, how many hundreds more will follow and how much more will they fechin cost us over their lifetime here.???

Personaly I think the games themselves are great. I just don't see the need for all this money being spent on the opening and closing ceremony. It is just a big willy waving ego trip.

My two cents worth;

Are they of any benefit to me = NO
Are they of any benefit to my area = NO
Are they of any benefit to the majority of people in Britain = NO
Are they of any benefit to the majority of areas in Britain = NO
Are they of any benefit to a few in London = YES
Are they of benefit to areas of London = YES

One thing I can say with some certainty is that while the opening ceremony is taking place hundreds of miles from where I live I will be sat around waiting for even less work because everyone will be sat at home watching their tellys, and most probably for the next couple of weeks as well.

So overall, will they have a detrimental effect on me personally = YES

Any chance I can get a slice of the few £billions the Olympics cost to compensate me for the loss of trade whilst they're on ?

Have you considered what the effect has been on charities and voluntary organisations, with so much lottery cash diverted to this one event?

Nothing stopping anyone putting money into charity boxes or donating separately.

So all those whingers who say not enough money is going to charities have other options.

And I hope you are lobbying for no lottery money to go to the Glasgow Commonwealth Games?

There was nothing stopping the youkay olympics collecting their own money, instead of dipping the pockets of existing good causes. Why should abused kids and the like pay for this shyte?
Equally, as the whole thing is a commercial venture, it should have been paid for commercially like any other sporting event.

So because of the Olympics more abused kids are losing out? :?

I think you are getting very desperate, and very sad.

Why? Are the Law Commission involved?
