NTA Conference; Manchester 2012

Dear Colleague

As you will recall, I wrote to members a week or so ago in respect of mooted changes to this years AGM.

Directors briefly discussed changing this years format last week in Newcastle; they agreed the importance of the Law Commission proposals were of such gravity that a mere afternoon would not give the issue the necessary amount of time.

The following has therefore been agreed.

Monday 22nd October

0930 to 12:00; NTA Directors Meeting

14:00 to 17:00; NTA Annual General Meeting

1930 to Late: NTA Chairman’s Dinner

Tuesday 23rd October

10:15 to 15:30; NTA Conference Open Session

Regards

Wayne Casey

People need to think about the future...... and what will happen if the Law Commission get it wrong...... This is a perfect opportunity for the taxi trade and private hire to prepare Debate the avenues they may need to take, it's no use waiting until the horse has bolted....... this time round

I don't think there's ever been a conference of such importance to the taxi trade and the NTA; it seems quite bizarre that people are still hanging on the car crash that is the NTTG; a body of such stupidity it didnt respond to the select committee in December 2010 which was an enquiry that created the Law Commission 'project'.

I find it quite amazing that UNITE the Union have a policy along the lines of they want the Select Committee's recommendations over and above those of the Law commission; one can only deduce they prefer hanging to decapitation.

Bums on seats is whats required; it's your future;

The future of the taxi trade is going to change in the next 18 months, many peoples way of life will change, the conference is an opportunity to air your views and concern.

If you have any interest whatsoever in the cab trade, your future, I urge you to attend.

£25 for your future?

£79 for your future and a bed to sleep overnight in (and chairmans dinner).

The choice is yours.

You remind me of someone down here Captain.

A knowledgeable person who cares about the taxi trade, but sadly is also pi**ing in the wind.

Most of the trade are good people, but they haven't got a clue what's going on or what they could do even if they did.

If the taxi trade was a bird, it would defo be an ostrich. :-$

I'll be there and this time I've paid up-front and early. [I'm not sleeping on a camp-bed with sleeping bag in the overflow marquee]

But the apathy, everywhere, is asphyxiatingly predicatable!

Many years ago Steven Norris Conservative was given the task of derestricting the Hackney Trade... he lost...
OFT.. tried to remove numeral controls.... they lost....
and now we have the Law Commission..... what is the difference between then and now..

On the first two occasions the private hire associations worked with the Hackney Trade to stop them..

now this time round it's a entirely different battle.... its the Hackney Trade V the big private hire companies... what the small private hire companies should be thinking is how long will it take before they are eaten up if the big boys have their way....
