You can go back 50 years or more................and you will find out that it was always the case.

They were regarded as the "working mans" political party. Having said that you were, and are, able to vote for who you like at election time.

As a working "young man" back many years ago, you/I belonged to a Union and never thought twice about it - you also new that a certain amount of your subscription (that was taken weekly) went to the Labour party..........again you never thought twice about it as they were the working mans party. Fast forward 45+ years, the Unions and the Labour party have changed drastically.............I would not have to think of belonging, or contributing to either, times have changed big time...........so have I.

Having said that. To get out of the hole that we are in - you need genuine Trade Unions with virtues/aims of bygone days..................hell will probably freeze over first.
