All the old style cameras flash even without there being a camera in the box, go and have a look through the top hole to see if there is a lens showing, don't forget they still cannot do anything with the old style camera that faces you.
If you don't receive a NIP through the post after 14 days your scot free

.......Providing you're the registered keeper and have been for at least, say, 2 months.

Not necessarily true, they only have to send it out to you within 14 days, if it takes longer to reach you or is lost in the post it's still enforceable.

I see the forward facing camera on the A41 at Eastham has been changed to a rear facing camera now as well.

They have 14 days from the date of the alleged offence to get the NIP to you. Like Cabbyman says, post the case on pepipoo where you will get far better help on speeding matters.

if you have a clean license, probably. however if you have a clean license why not save yourself the time needed to attend the course and take the points. you will still have to pay the fine either way.

I wouldn't have thought so, not for just one SP30.

Some insurance companies and councils ( ours included ) now ask if you have had to attend any speed/ safety awareness courses. Three points wouldn't affect your insurance though.

Q. If you take the speed awareness course, do you have to tell the insurers?

Whats the fine for a SP30 (say under 40 in a 30) vs a speed awareness course, isnt the fine £100 and the course £80?

And a day off of work. I think you still have to pay the fine as well.

The cost of attending a course will vary dependant on the course, but is usually less than the cost of the fine of the associated offence.

It's a morning and you pay for the course and the ticket is squashed i.e. no fine.

You still have to notify your insurance company of your speed awareness course, they'll lump another 200 dumps onto your premium for being a naughty boy and speeding.

I attended one and my insurance company knew about it when it came to renewal time, they said any claims or convictions? I replied with no because I hadn't accrued any, they turned round and said, didn't you attend a speed awareness course last year? I said yeah I did, they said, you have to notify us now because it's seen as a conviction.

The above was despite the chap taking the course telling us we didn't have to tell our insurance company.
