a restriction that led to dangerous overcrowding outside the ground before kick-off.
In an attempt to ease pressure outside the ground, Police Chief Superintendent David Duckenfield, the senior police officer responsible for policing the match, ordered an exit gate to be opened.
What other options were available to the police to alleviate the dangerous overcrowding outside the ground?
Firstly, the fans had tickets. The police lied when they said they didn't. The fans statements were altered to make it appear they didn't. This has been proven now. Secondly, ticket holding fans were outside the main gate waiting to come in. Leppings Lane was full and the order was given to open the gates and let them in but they didn't shut the gates to the tunnel which led through to the pens. If these gates had been shut the fans would have gone to the right and left to the side pens which were mostly empty. Chief Superintendent Duckenfield lied through his teeth saying drunken fans with no tickets had forced their way through the gates. In 2015 when giving evidence at the inquest he finally admitted his lies. Since then South Yorkshire police have spent 4 million pounds on solicitors repeating the same lies at the inquest. The current Chief Constable of South Yorkshire has today been suspended ..........freemasons.??.
