The closing ceremony is on Sunday 12th August 2012.

Roll on that day!

So because of the Olympics more abused kids are losing out? :?

Yes they are Sussex, along with the disabled, elderly and others who used to benefit from lottery money.
For the last few years that money has been diverted to olympics olympics olympics.
From there it has helped to fill the pockets of the corrupt bribe-takers that run the IOC and a multitude of private companies and individuals who stand to make a killing.
You might even be close enough to get a few crumbs off their table.

I think you are getting very desperate, and very sad.

I'm neither desperate nor sad Sussex. I just see it as it is.
You seem to be blinded by the glitz. I think your full of shyte.

Have you considered what the effect has been on charities and voluntary organisations, with so much lottery cash diverted to this one event?

Nothing stopping anyone putting money into charity boxes or donating separately.

So all those whingers who say not enough money is going to charities have other options

There was nothing stopping the youkay olympics collecting their own money, instead of dipping the pockets of existing good causes. Why should abused kids and the like pay for this shyte?
Equally, as the whole thing is a commercial venture, it should have been paid for commercially like any other sporting event.

They've closed the ECMO unit at Glenfield Hospital along with a few others because there's no money to fund it but, they find £27million for a opening ceremony and a total of £9billion for a glorified egg and spoon race.

Can't believe that no-one has yet worked out what Danny Boyle was getting across.

Once again the negatively of many in this trade rears it's head.

Maybe the strangest thing is why the doom-mongers didn't change channel.

All that said, I doubt they care that I loved it, and I certainly couldn't give a stuff they didn't.

I watched the beginning and whilst I got it (I think), it seemed a bit off kilter. As it went on I really enjoyed it, the choreography and organisation + Rowan Atkinson being absolutely awesome + everyone smiling............................except the Queen!!!!!!!!!! - I am not being intentionally disrespectful but it reminded me of the old "Soviet Block Politburo" whereby they were stuffed full of drugs to make them appear that they were still alive.

Definitely something wrong there! (Please do not give me the age thing)..........defo something wrong.

Makes a change to blame someone else other than the foreigners for your woes.

As for the cash game, well I'm more interested with the enjoyment aspect.

But I look forward to your evidence of all the big cash going to the rich.

Errr hello, 5k pw to park a sodden car, err £9 for a hotdog, err £6 for a bottle of Peckham Spring, Marky Boy you should be a race horse with blinkers like yours old son.

Where do Foreigners come into this btw, I didn't mention them did I, or is this another make Doom look racist replies, I'll take the pepsi challenge with you if you like, you report me and I'll bring along a coach load of non brits who will all speak for me, I assume this is another one of your I can't get it de-regulated so I'll spit the dummy type posts shall I, and as for foreigners I haven't posted anything I've not told them face to face, thing is if the LC get their way then your manor is going to change rapidly, once easy badge entry is the norm they will flock to you, and I'm going to tell them just how rich the picking are in Brighton as well, lets see that smug look fall off your face when you have 6X as many mouths to feed, it will almost be worth getting de-regulated to see you packing up your tent and having to go find another job, I do believe I saw you today btw, your car looked kinda Dusty

Oh and lets not forget one thing shall we, millions spent on fireworks etc, yet across the way a man sleeps in a cardboard box, down the road a lady needs an operation but the NHS hasn't got any funds, a man is attacked but the police can't save him in time as there aren't enough of them to go around etc etc, shall I go on or do you get my message now, it's called priorities and folks like yourself don't seem to have any do you, don't hand me the begging bowl and book a suite at the Dorchester and expect me to be happy about it.

Danny Boyle got his message across just fine to anyone with a nose on their face, the message being that when Arts involved the truly gullible will swallow it hook line and sinker to appear sophisticated and intellectual whilst the the naturally Intelligent will see through it in an instance.

Danny's not daft, hes taking the plss whilst making a few quid and upping his kudos ratings.

I quite enjoyed the opening ceremony =D>

Although it did sadden me to go from when it was Great Britain with Shakespear, Brunel, the industrial revolution, the NHS (as was) and ended up with Dizzee Rascal and Mr. Bean ! All it needed to finish off was armed police turning up to close the 'house-party' whilst being pelted with bricks by spliff smoking teens swigging from white cider bottles  At what point did we go wrong ? And how it started with shots of Scotland and Ireland and then quickly turned into it all being about London (and not in a 'thats because it's where the games are being held' way).

Most of it probably went straight over the heads of foreigners though. And the sound quality from the BBC was appaling.
