PH vehicles should not use Taximeters.
PH only do truly pre-booked work.
PH should not masquarade as Taxis, remove top lights, roof spot lights, stickers etc all those things used to deceive the public into thinking a PH is a Taxi and is available for hire.
PH jobs should have a contract, name, time, pick-up, destination, price for each and every job.
PH vehicles are doing Taxi work at airports, shops etc etc. Enabling third party operators to cream off large fees from the trade for the pick-up rights. Who pays these middlemen, they rob the trade anually of far more money than what leaves the trade via the sale of plates.
There is plenty wrong with the 2 tier system but a deluge of plates will not benefit anyone, Delimit/Dereg has not and is not working, there is not one area that has gone through this trauma that has found the trade in a better state now than before. Managed sustainable growth has to be better, a steady controlled release of plates with zoning controls where suitable. The PH tree has had a growth spurt that has left it wild and ugly, the Taxi tree has been overprotected leaving it weak and venerable to attack from parasites, prune the ugly growth from the PH and allow the Taxi tree to grow and blossom. Only a fool would cut down the fruit tree to get to the crop.
