I think people like CC and MrT are the problem.
People who would stop drivers owning their own cabs so that they can make a living off their backs.

Errm, I own one cab and have one driver, which is me ffs

And you speak only for yourself, of course

I would be far richer leaching a living of the backs of others like you do.
You would have to get the mattress off your back first....... I quite like your posts..... even if they do remind me of that little snitch from school..... Please Sir..CC.. copied tones homework.... mind you you're not alone...

Yours remind me of a certain NHS administrator.
This hospital would be much more efficent if it weren't for all these sick people clogging up the wards.

Hey, I've got a great idea.

Why doesn't Tone move down to Carlisle, drive Captain Quota's car 100 hours a week, who can sit on his backside with a big grin on his face watching the money roll in.

And Tone's as happy as a pig in pooh.

And everyone's happy, with not so much as a cap required \:D/

How can Tone do that when I don't want a driver on my cab?

I have never portrayed myself to be well clued up on legislation and the legal implications of the trade unlike others.

I joined this forum to get information on things that i think are relevant to the Dundee taxi trade. The information that i have received from this forum has helped us in our constant battle to help the taxi operators/drivers of Dundee have the best conditions as possible and because of the help i have received from people on here we have had some results.

i think that the situation we have in Dundee is different from other parts of the country operators/drivers all want a cap on numbers.I know that in other parts of the country this is not the case and drivers feel they are not being allowed to own their own vehicles.I also think that operators having to put wheelchair cars on is not fair and there should be a system in place that if a saloon goes back then a wheelchair operator has the opportunity to put on a saloon.
Until the government get people who know the taxi trade inside out to implement legislation that benefits everybody we are going to have to disagree and argue what is best for your area and a cap on numbers is best for Dundee. It would not solve the problem right away but with better enforcement and unity we might just all get the pay and conditions we want.

As the secretary of the Dundee taxi association i think because we have members that are Drivers/operators of saloons and wheelchair cars i think i have to be open minded. If i had my own self interests at heart i would not be in the DTA.

I am the first to make fun of my self so i welcome the banter and jokes that are thrown in my direction is just a pity that some on this forum were not so chicken hearted. My avatar says allot about the person i am hence the reason i like this forum because there is allot of clowning around. :D

You just keep being your self mate... being twisted like some on here is not very attractive.... and will close doors.....which will achieve nothing for your members

When this government gets really stuck into the tax credit system, a few cab owners will have sudden changes of heart.

When 800 out of 1000 credit applications are refused, then there might be a change of view.

When insurers start increasing premiums, then people might start taking notice.

What this Government and its experts in their feather cushioned jobs fail to realise is that through such draconian measures and increasing the pensionable age so that you never know what year when you can actually retire in....this just instills joe public with Melancholy and induces a deep routed malaise that makes you think Why the F*ck bother...

I think i might can retire at 65...now im told its to be 66...but next year they may decide it to be 70...how can we plan and what can we look forward to? The French are almost having a National strike because their giverment is raising its pension age from 60 to 62....we sit back and do nowt...

How come that if this EU is so wonderful do we work years longer than almost anyone else and get less of a pension for it...EU equality My arse..

Spoilsport.

So you're just desparate to sell your plate once you're finished with it?

How much would you like it to be worth?

BTW, rumour has it that the only connection Tone's owner has with the trade is the money he makes out of him

Aye, that'll include those who were begging for the cap to come off in the first place.

The difference is simply that Dundee isn't restricted while Edinburgh is. A few years down the line and Dundee would be the same and drivers would be wanting plates, and the revolving door would start again.

Of course no one wants a plate in Dundee if it's not capped. They're not going to be moaning about wanting a plate if they can get one from the council.

By the way, have you asked every driver and op in Dundee what they want, or are you just assuming - there must be 2,000 in Dundee?
